WEISSWO can purchase and integrate winter satellite images into any map on your winter website. The images replace standard Google imagery in Satellite and Hybrid modes.

Special applications add piste-map-layers or other point or KML data as seen in our standard applications.

Geographic Map Contents and Layers

WEISSWO can add any custom geographic content to your map. This content can come from Shape-files, databases, geographically referenced aerial photography. Then we can layer it over any or all standard Google Maps if you desire.

Until we provide a separate demo, you can activate the layers using the “Extra ...” control and selecting a Winter or Summer map of Tirol.

Firefox Localizes Website-Visitors

A new functionality of Firefox allows the user to geo-locate her approximate position with 2 clicks. If a GPS is attached, GPS information may be used.

Like in Google Maps the function is activated by using the blue/turquoise button. If the user allows access by confirming the security dialog on top of the page, the WEISSWO Vicinity search for the current location will open and display the estimated location of the user as blue circle. The user can drag and drop the START marker to a desired location.

St. Anton Creates Touristic Summer Map

St. Anton has created a summer map to display hiking-paths, mountain-bike-routes, via-ferrata climbing ways, and race-bike routes. Webcams complete the picture.

Using the “INFO ...” link in the info-windows of most tours displays additional information about specific tours from our micro content management system. Currently only german language pages are available until the region provides translations.

Multimap Tourism Demonstration

This map demonstrates an application of WEISSWO PinPoint in the Tourism industry. Multiple maps are extracted from a single user account to display various locations or aspects of a tourism region.

The simplest distinction is summer and winter, but topic maps for hiking, mountain-biking, skiing and hotel search allow any visitor of the site to quickly find the desired information.

Interactive Panoramas using our full window mode allow seamless zooming and panning.

Preexisting skiing maps can be integrated and avoid tedious PDF downloads. It is even possible to manually place pins onto such maps.

Zoomable aerial photos give a quick overview.

Notes: The demo is best viewed with a fast and modern browser (Safari, FF3, IE8 - especially the accomodation map). The demo content is provided in German language only. The map and legend automatically detect the browser language (alternative legend in English only). Some Icon designs are rudimentary, but those are usually provided by our customers.

PinPoint Mobile on the iPhone

WEISSWO has finished the first beta version of PinPoint Mobile. All location data are converted to mobile phone format for comfortable browsing on advanced mobile phones. The mobile location-finder allows customers to find a local office or branch with a few clicks. By adding a single link to PinPoint mobile to your website, you enable your customers to find you by cell-phone.

Phone numbers and email-links are - of course - clickable on the phone. Also geo-coordinates of a location are shown for easy transfer to GPS-devices.

PinPoint Mobile will work best on WebKit based browsers, like those that are used on iPhone and Symbian (N96).

Map based navigation help is currently delivered with a WEISSWO specific web-page, not the built in iPhone navigation software, so this should work with most other phones in the same way.

A demo will be available after beta testing has finished.

Locations in the Vicinity with Print-out

Users of your website can now easily find locations on your map in the vicinity of any address that they enter in a search form. For that the user enters the start-address into the yellow search box on the top right, then clicks ‘check’ and the closest 5 locations appear in an info window at the “START” marker. By selecting a location the user can display the route, or hit the print icon to get a printable page. The user can adjust maps before printing them.

If the address input is ambiguous, we ask the user to choose ...

An alternative to the vicinity-search is the pure diretions-to functionality. It is activated by the approach symbol in the list or the info window ...

Of course all designs and imagery can be adapted to the corporate design of your company.

Mountainbike-Tracks, Cable-Cars, Webcams, and Special Functions

WEISSWO PinPoint can display mountainbike-tracks, railways, cable-cars and other KML based content. This content can be activated by click on a marker or legend-item. KML can also be added to the map statically when loading it. Pins with links to webcam images can show recent pictures at the location.

Many other customer specific special functions can be implemented. The map could be restricted, for example, to an area, or a ground overlay can be added.

An interactive demonstration is on its way.

Full Screen Mode improves Orientation

With a click on the ‘Full Screen’ button the map magnifies to fill the whole browser window of the client’s webbrowser. This makes navigating the map much easier for your visitor. With a click on the “Normal View” button the map shrinks back into its normal position. All is done without reloading the page or navigating away.

Conversion to Google Earth

Some users prefer to view data in Google Earth. WEISSWO has a built-in Google Earth KML converter so that the user can download a map and view it in 3D. All data will be prepared almost in the same way as the map application displays it on your website.

If a site embeds multiple different maps, different KMLs can be retrieved into GoogleEarth.

Google’s new 3D plugin is under investigation.

Panoramas and Aerial Images

WEISSWO PinPoint can easily embed panorams or aerial photography. The user can interactively zoom into the panorama and view every detail of the picture closely, as known from gigapixel applications. The map owner can add locations and use a legend as in any other PinPoint application.

The higher the resolution of the original image is, the deeper one can zoom in. 360 degree panoramas can be presented seamless. Any original of 15000x20000 pixels (300-600MB) would result in about 5 zoom levels.

Embedded Google Local Search

By adding a single parameter to the invocation of the map the administrator can enable Google Local Search on any map. The feature will activate whenever the user zooms into the map far enough.

Visitors of your website can search for food, shops and other locations stored at maps.google.com.

The user interface will be adapted automatically to the language of the user’s browser.

Hiking Maps and Own Content - Custom Maps

If you wish to publish your own high resolution map based content WEISSWO PinPoint can help you. Add your own positions to any map you like, even if the content is painted or photo-based.

The map in this demo is georeferenced and placed on top of the Google Map so the user can switch between the hiking map and the Google map. Automatic geocoding and directions are available on such a map. Materials that are not a map may also be used, but positions need to be placed manually with the online editor in that case.

Alpine Golf Courses - Embedded external Contents

This demo shows golf courses in the alpine region. View scorecards with a single click or look at the embedded web-based birdie-guide. This function is implemented at GC Innsbruck-Igls in Lans/Tirol. If you already have a web application in a popup window or a frame it is possible to integrate that into your map with no effort.

The map legend is two dimensional. On one hand it shows the number of holes at the course, on the other hand it displays difficulty.

At a glance you can recognize courses with club-rental, cart-rental, or restaurants.

Do they find their way to the holiday residence that easy too?

For some persons the location of the residence is of importance. Some prefer a calm position, others rather stay centrally. How do you get a picture of it? Are you able to cope with the map of the resort? How do you get an overview about the leisure time-, entertainment- and infrastructure facilities?

People love the variety and book vacation trips in the spur of the moment. A clear, interactive location map guides the visitor to the desired information within a few clicks. Filters for categories, price range, configuration, et cetera reduce the choice and display the accommodation together with leisure time facilities and gastronomy in the interactive map.

Description

Regiocard offers season tickets for winter and summer sports to local customers at participating companies. Eight categories of sports are offered with multiple options per location.

Prominent Features

Legend: The legend at the right of the map conveys a quick overview about the range of the website operator. The desired categories get displayed in map and list by selecting the corresponding topics in the legend. The others fade out. This improves the overview about a targeted topic. Activated icons get highlighted by a colour in the legend.

By clicking individual activities in the legend of Regiocard the corresponding locations in map and list get shown, which can provide the selected activity. The provided activities of a location can be identified by the icons, shown in the list and the opened business card in the map.
By activating the icons „winter“ (snow crystal) and „summer“ (sun) all locations, which provide the corresonding activities get displayed in map and list.

Individual Icons: Locations of different topics/groups can be identified clearly by allocating different icons.

The icon design is arbitrary. In this case they were provided by the customer and formated and provided with the shadows by WEISSWO. If you make available icons for your application you should notice that the size is not larger than 32x32 and the contrast in the map is good enough.

Brand Product Marketing - 700 in one sweep

The demonstration shows a manufacturer of top-quality designer furniture. The company displays on the embedded map all 690 distributors. The website is neutral and without relation to a specific solution since it is representative for many applications.

Reaction rate and Performance

The coeval display of various locations with information is complex. We structured the data in a way that even 1.000 locations are downloaded within a short time and the customer is able to find a location in his area with three clicks.

In search of place name or zip code at cyberspeed

You can display all locations in a place by entering a place name or a zip code in a search window. All the others get blanked. The search result gets reseted when a new icon in the legend is selected.

Data import

By means of a spread sheet the inital creation and geo-coding of the locations was able within a very short time.

Get'n Drop - Location-finder in Europa

With PinPoint customers who visit your website are able to orientate in your location network quickly. You arrive in a zoomlevel showing that location which is easy to reach for you by a double click in the desired area of the map. Opening hours, events, bargains, ample parking space closed of your branch and many more information get displayed clearly.

Location specific differences and information can be amended quickly and easily. A database connection reduces the data administration efforts of PinPoint almost to zero. This helps to safe costs considerable.

Applications

Subsidiaries and Branches: Companies for whom it is business relevant that their subsidiaries, branches, shops etc. get found by customers.

Brand Product Manufacturers: Customers who are interested to buy a product of a brand manufacturer who distributes via the wholesale and specialized trade and does not have his own distribution network, often don‘t know where they are obtainable. PinPoint not only shows a distributor and his exact location but can provide location specific information about employees who are well schooled with the wanted product.

Describtion

Get'n'Drop is a virtual car rental company in central Europe. The menu at the left are not active excepting the HELP-menu. Get‘n‘Drop embedded the interactive map into the website under the menu „Stations“. The embedded map is 100% operational.

Prominent Features

Clustering/Country Flags

Depending from the zoom level of the map the icons of several locations in the same small area get packed very compact. PinPoint clusters the locations automatically and indicates this by a cluster icon. By clicking a cluster icon the map zooms and the locations get displayed individually. There are three clustering levels: Country, province/federal state, town/community. Get‘n‘Drop is using flgas in the first clustering level. As cluster icons for the province level blue icons and for the town level ruby coloured icons get used.

Business Cards

The small information windows/business cards contain more information beside that to identify the location:
By clicking the button „approaching zoom“ the defined map section gets zoomed directly, which shows the surrounding area of a location. The map returns to the previous zoom level by clicking the button in the list a second time.

Information

First text contents inform the website visitor about location specific details.

Integrated Route Calculation

By clicking the button „approaching route“ the place of departure can be written in a input window The approaching route gets displayed and described in a new window.

Communication

By clicking a call number or the Skype symbol a Voice-over-IP system gets opened and activated automatically if installed by the customer.
E-mail-link/URL-link: By clicking an e-mail address the window for writing a mail opens, which was installed by the customer. When clicking a website address the website opens automatically.

Showcase

Some locations provide further information, which can‘t be contained by a business card. A larger information window opens, when clicking the showcase symbol in the business card or the list. The information are organized in index cards which can be selected by tabs. Beside text and images they also can contain videos and webcam links. Get‘n‘Drop displays some locations in Austria with integrated videos.
